Monsters: Dark Continent -- 0/10; Utter horseshit. Weak direction, weak script, weak acting, and about 1.5 sec. of monster action.
|
The Walking Deceased -- 4/10; The shit-shooting scene. ::big grin::
|
The Butter Boys -- 5/10; Crime drama is not my go-to subgenre.
|
It Swallows -- 0.5/10; It Follows is a lot of fun; this phone-cam parody, not so much (and it rips off The Langoliers).
|
THE GAME (1997). Abrasive ultra-rich Michael Douglas is given a birthday gift from younger brother Sean Penn to a company that promises to change his life, which it does. Interesting premise that grows more weird as the film continues than becomes ridiculous until it finally falls apart by the end. Truly a missed opportunity. **

Kiss Me Where It Hurts -- 6.5/10; The ice-cream scene: ::big grin:: |
Black Water -- 1/10
Kill Me Three Times -- 4.5/10 Playing with Dolls -- 3/10; The chick tells some dude with an axe that she's lost. Doesn't she know she's supposed to ask a dirty attendant at a rundown gas station. Jezus. |
She's Not Heavy, She's Your Wife -- 8/10; One of the best "wife" movies to cum down the pike in a long time.

Texas Chainsaw 2013 - 8/10

The Alamo (2004)...8/10

"Fear Them" 9-10/10
Scary from beginning to end. |
It Follows -- Second viewing. Still an 8/10. Should be titled "It Follows Only Straights". The only way to defeat the beast is to be bi, as I'm sure the homos have their own It, and being stalked by two different Its would render each of them null. Sequel scripted, start lensing.
Ticks -- 6.5/10; Better than crabs. |
Boyhood 9/10 fucking phenomenal movie shot over the course of 12 years

Pieces of Talent 4.5/10 I liked the ending, but that was it. Acting was bad, dialogue was bad, characters were too cliche, and not in any good way. Just over all I don't get the praise of this film.

It Follows (2015)
Less of a movie and more of an experience, It Follows offers some of the most suspenseful and scariest put to film since maybe Paranormal Activity. It makes extensive use of the score and cinematography to create a surreal and dark atmosphere that lingers long after the movie is over. It Follows has a very simple plot, virtually no twists, but a whole lot of suspense and tension. It Follows blends many generations of horror; it has the look of a 60's movie, the weirdness of an 80's movie, the suspense of a modern indie film, and the visual style of future horror films. It'll have you watching your back for a long time after watching it. 10/10 |

I saw It Follows today and was overjoyed to find a modern horror movie with class. I'd give it the top score. Oh, and I'm a newb, so be nice.

Had myself a little "disaster" marathon last night. Watched "2012", "The Core" and "Dante's Peak"

Nightcrawler (2014)
Nightcrawler is an exciting and gritty crime-thriller movie that explores the depths of LA crime-journalism at its most gruesome. Jake Gyllenhaal plays Lou Bloom who films crime scenes and sells them to a local news station, while blurring the lines between observer and participant. The movie works best as a character study of Lou, showing how he can manipulate people into helping him in this dangerous profession and the lengths he will go to sell the video to the news. It's dark, intelligent, and violent while still being able to engage and entertain the audience. 8/10 |
