Cabin Fever -- 10/10; I wonder whether the remake will retain the n-word joke.

Freakhead -- 4/10; Nice premise, subpar execution.

A Most Violent Year (2014)
Slow crime drama. Not great but not bad either.
Lead actor did a fine job. Some scenes he reminded me of Al Pacino in The Godfather.

Late Phases (2014)
Slow but solid werewolf thriller.

Damn Heathen 03-12-2015 10:08 AM

A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night -- 4.5/10; Definitely needed more juice. Minimalist cinema needn't be reductionist.

Cock-Sure in Cameroon -- 7/10; Has a nice ethnic flavor without the gamy aftertaste.

The Hobbit: The battle of the five armies.

Meh. A lot of the Hobbit movie series was directed, at least it seems to me, at kids. Particularly boys. So I'm not going to like them as much, no problem. Regardless the series, and this film, did not do much for me. They're entertaining for the time I watch them, but I'll never watch them again or think of them. Unremarkable.

It has got bad ratings on IMDB but i thought it was a decent watch. It has links to the original Essex Boys but i think they are just made up for the film.

CREEP 2004

A decent British indie. A young lady inadvertently becomes trapped overnight in the subway. She is stalked by something from the sewers but manages to find a homeless couple who begrudgingly try to help. It all ends in tears...

Great story, didn't drag on..and the "stalker" was impressive.

Is that the one where at some point the 'creep' reenacts a surgery without anything actually being there?

Its been a while. I think I remember it being somewhat mediocre, I guess I only stuck with it because I really like subway/underground films. But that scene with the imaginary surgery was amazing, I still remember him cleaning his hands/forearms in a sink without water.

Idris Elba is an amazing actor, but the film looks like something that's been done a million times. Very sick of the woman as victim film(regardless if she wins in the end). What made it a 10/10?

There are some decent scenes in Creep and even though its not that great a movie, the atmosphere is quality at times. Christopher Smith has done a few decent films now, Triangle being his best to date.

Was well impressed with both Triangle and Creep. Will have to look up more of his work.

Question for you. Spoiler in white ink.
Did you think the creep was the result of a botched abortion?

Fun flick.

Eyes of Crystal (2004)
http://www.schnittberichte.com/www/S...6256/cover.jpg

Surprisingly good, 'modern' neo-giallo film with a charisma lead and some surreal moments. Enough for me,

The Babadook and Oculus were both pretty decent, even the wife liked them.

I can't remember that much, sorry. : /

Housebound. 6/10. Somewhat fun, funny moments mixed in with a mediocre story.

THE POSSESSION OF MICHAEL KING 2014

Mainly watched this because another poster put up a thread about it. A man who has recently lost his wife decides now is the time to do a documentary about all things heaven and hell. Never mind that he's got a precious little daughter to care for who is also grieving her mom.

Not too impressed with the acting or the whole sick story.

BulimicFaerie 03-15-2015 12:20 AM

I recently watched ABCs of Death 2, was overall satisfied...K and Z fucked me up good.
Last horror in the theater....? Ouija? Maybe The Boy Next Door, but that's more lifetime thriller honestly.

EL MARIACHI (1992). Great Roberto Rodriguez debut filmed for next to nothing (around $7000) dealing with mistaken identity. Really good and MUCH better than the higher budgeted DESPERADO (1995). ****

hammerfan 03-15-2015 01:04 AM

Saw The Lazarus Effect yesterday. Really enjoyed it. Good acting, good story, decent effects.

Baron Von Marlon 03-15-2015 03:50 PM

Someone Marry Barry (2014)
Original comedy with that Tucker & Dale guy.
Not great but still ok.

Interstellar (2014)
Good but overrated like every other Nolan movie.
Also felt a bit unfinished.

TheBossInTheWall 03-16-2015 05:50 PM

Monsters. 2010. Amazing. 4/5 stars. or 8/10 if you like. Great effects. Great acting. Great shooting. Really well done interaction between the two main characters are the rest of the cast. The only thing I disliked strongly enough to mention was the predictable convenient plot device that sends them on their path. But I got over it fast. Really good film.

And great theme song:

A sequal has come out. Cool looking monsters in a war movie. A war movie, WTF??

If it had been a war against the giant monsters it would have been awsome, but against terrorists??? Who came up with this shit?!!!

At least it's shot as a normal movie, but sadly the monsters are just for show.

Really? I haven't seen it yet. I borrowed it from a friend. I just saw the trailer and I'm kind of leaning toward your rating....lol.

I don't know, maybe a 3/10 rating is more fair. Can't decide.
