Is it legal to block ads on news sites?

I honestly think it’s completely legal to block ads on news sites. When I’m reading an article, I’m there for the content, not to fight my way through pop-ups, autoplay videos, and banners covering half the screen. An ad blocker is just a tool that gives me some control over my own browsing experience. I understand that ads help keep many news sites running, but I also think readers should be free to decide what they see on their own screen. To me, that’s a pretty reasonable choice.

I’ve never really had an issue with blocking ads on news sites. If they make a page harder to read, I don’t see why I shouldn’t block them. Lately, though, I’ve been dealing with those annoying iOS redirects in Safari, where you tap something and suddenly end up on a completely different page.
